The following are recommendations of the Greater Hartford Mobility Study that are being actively developed as projects by CTDOT.

Pulaski Circle Modern Roundabout:
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety and better-connect neighborhoods in the Bushnell South area of Hartford. This can be accomplished by reconfiguring the existing rotary to become a modern roundabout.
The project will improve safety and make connections to Bushnell Park and the State Capitol. It will also slow down traffic and improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians. This project will support economic development by making it easier to access different transportation options.
The study of current traffic data and understanding of future traffic volumes is complete. The design of the roundabout will consider existing and future traffic.

Albany and Main Street Early Action Improvements
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is improving safety and traffic flow at the U.S. Route 44 (Albany Avenue) intersection with Main Street, High Street, and Ely Street in Hartford. The current conditions cause poor traffic operations and long pedestrian crossings.
Safety improvements for passenger vehicles are needed at the intersection of Albany Avenue and Pleasant Street, and pedestrian safety improvements are needed at the intersection of Main Street and Belden Street.

Estimated Cost: $9,800,000
I-84 Ramp Closure at High/Trumbull Streets, Hartford:
The purpose of this project is to improve traffic operations and safety along I-84 in Hartford. This segment of I-84 has high traffic volumes (averaging more than 80,000 vehicles daily) in an area where drivers must weave, merge, and diverge within short distances on I-84 between Asylum Ave to the west and I-91 to the east.
There are three ramps in each direction on I-84 within less than 2,000 ft. Additionally, this set of interchange ramps is in close proximity to the I-84/I-91 interchange which significantly contributes to congestion and consistently ranks in the most congested interstates in the country.
Consolidating ramps (at the High Street I-84 eastbound on-ramp and Trumbull Street I-84 westbound off-ramp) would reduce the geometric complexity of the project area and the number of possible lane change maneuvers. Implementing these consolidations would provide an expected reduction in crashes in the project area and a possible reduction in corridor crashes.
