Rt 2 Extension to I-91 (formally City Link East) is the first phase of the Core Components and would begin the process modifying interstate operations and reducing the impacts of the Bulkeley Bridge and its Ramps on Hartford. The project will construct a new bridge across the Connecticut River to the north and a eliminate two deficient ramps which currently cause substantial delay and lead to crashes. The project is intended provide immediate congestion relief and provide the foundation for the City Link project.
